Steven Mitchell Moore

Steven Mitchell Moore, 65, of Lancaster, husband of Melanie Doolin Moore, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025 in Garrard County. Born on November 5, 1959, he was a son of Wendell (Karen) Moore, of Richmond, & the late Freda Powell Johnson. Steven was a farmer, and was a school bus driver for the Garrard County School System for many years. Steven was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, in Moreland, and a former member and deacon at Freedom Baptist Church, in Lancaster. He enjoyed autobody work and restoration, antique tractors, and was an avid collector of all things rusty. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Johnny Johnson; brother, Ray Johnson, and two sisters, Cheryl & Carol Moore.

Survivors other than his wife and father include his son, Andrew (Amber) Moore; daughter, Sarah (Eric) Saylor, both of Lancaster; brothers, Wade & Doug Moore, & Phillip Johnson, all of Richmond, & Gene Johnson, of Garrard County; six grandchildren, Hope & Tori Saylor, Abby & Nola Paige Moore, & Garrett & Memphis Carman.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 15, 2025 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Shepperson officiating, and burial following at the Moore Family Cemetery. Pallbearers include Brayden Jackson, Wade & Doug Moore, Garret & Jacob Carman, Jerry Dick, & Kyler Moore. Honorary pallbearers include Johnny Grubbs, Mike Whittaker, Chris Gifford, Phillip Johnson, & J.J. Davidson. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the funeral home.
