Vernon Lloyd Fields, Sr., 82, of Lancaster, , passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford. Born November 09, 1938 in Cartersville, he was a son of the late Elhanon & Elsie Sparks Fields. Vernon was a former equipment operator for Triple D Communications, a United States Navy veteran, & enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Dix River Pentecostal Church. In addition to his parents, Vernon was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Fields.
Survivors include his wife, Freida Douglas Fields; sons, Bobby (Kim) Fields, of Bryantsville, & Vernon Lloyd (Patty) Fields, of Hawaii; daughter, Patricia (William) Preston, of Gravel Switch; brothers, Ernest Fields, of Lancaster, Johnny Fields, of Indiana; sisters, Betty Smeltzer, of Indiana & Lorraine Peavely of Gravel Switch, as well as six grandchildren & sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home with Bro. Walter Bowling officiating and burial following at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Full military honors will be performed by Caswell Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the funeral home.
