Violet Butt James, 99 of Stanford, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Stanford Health and Rehabilitation Center. Violet was born September 14, 1923 in Lincoln County to the late Newland & Nannie Taylor Butt. She had spent most of her career in retail cosmetic sales for several different department stores and was a faithful member of Highland Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde James, and five sisters, Genevieve Butt, Marie Reed, Margaret Laswell, Edna Hensley & Betty Austin. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and many great & great great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Highland United Methodist Church by Mr. Danny Ford and Rev. Kyle Burnett, with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00—1:00 PM Saturday at the church. Contributions in lieu of flowers may go to Highland Methodist Cemetery Fund, 9731 Hwy 1247, Waynesburg, Ky. 40489.
